​Recipes For Wellness

These are all recipes and remedies we've had posted in the past and which have been repeatedly requested.  So I'm including them here.  




"TONIC"

This is a very powerful anti-bacterial, anti-parasitical, and anti-viral recipe that is a true God-send during the cold and flu season.  As a preventative, take 1-2 tablespoons per day.  At the first signs of symptoms take 1-2 tablespoons at least 3 times a day.  

  • 1 large Organic* Onion, finely chopped
  • 4-5 Organic* Cayenne, Habanero, or Jalapeno peppers (de-seeded, stemmed and finely chopped)
  • Fresh Organic* Horseradish (peeled and chopped; you'll need about a 5-6 inch piece)
  • Organic* Garlic (2 entire bulbs; chopped)
  • Fresh Organic* Ginger Root (peeled and chopped; you'll need about a 5-6 inch piece)
  • Organic* Apple Cider Vinegar


Make sure the ingredients are well cut up, and mix them up in a bowl.  Then put half the ingredients in a mixer and MIX ON HIGH FOR ONLY 30 SECONDS (any longer and the friction begins to cook the ingredients, which destroys their curative properties).  Empty the blender and put in the other half of the ingredients.  MIX ON HIGH FOR ONLY 30 SECONDS.

Put the ingredients into a jar or container with a lid and cover with Organic apple cider vinegar.  This will stay fresh for years in your fridge or on the countertop so long as it remains covered in the apple cider vinegar.  When your tonic begins to diminish, you can add more vinegar.

(NOTE:  This recipe has a very strong taste; it tends to be rather hot depending upon which peppers you use and how you use them.  It can make sensitive stomachs a little queasy, so test it out with small doses at first to see how your tummy will react.)

*Organic ingredients are not required, but they tend to have fewer impurities and more nutrients than non-organic.  DO, however, use ONLY organic apple cider vinegar.

CELL RENEWING FAST

This is a wonderfully refreshing "fasting" recipe for individuals who wish to give their bodies a break from meats, but who wish to promote deep cell renewal and gentle cleansing.

FIRST:  Make the Sun Tea

  • 2 tablespoon Alfalfa or Dandelion Leaf
  • 2 tablespoon Red Clover
  • 2 tablespoon Nettles
  • Place in purified or filtered water with a Herkimer Diamond in the bottom of the jar to create positive spin and to raise the frequencies of the water.  Seal the jar by placing a cheese cloth over the top of it, and let it sit in the sun for a minimum of three-four hours.  Then strain the tea when done and allow to cool completely.


SECOND:  Make the Mixture

  • Start with 2 cups of the Sun tea and then add in:
  • 2 handfuls of organic beet leaf, parsley, dandelion leaf, chard, or carrot tops.  
  • Blend until it is liquefied (Blend in 30 second intervals to avoid "cooking" the greens.  The motors and blade friction from a blender can heat up and begin "cooking" the nutrients out of raw foods when blended for longer than 30 second intervals without cooling.)  
  • Add in 1-2 peeled, cored, finely chopped organic apples.  (Puree if you like applesauce consistency)  
  • Mash a ripe avocado and add it to the mixture.
  • Add 15-30 drops of Cell Food and mix.


Keep tightly covered in the fridge, and treat it as you would guacamole (realizing that the avocado when oxidized will turn brown).  Serve over Quinoa or Brown Rice.  Eat for two (2) weeks.  After 2 weeks, add fish.  After 1 week, slowly return to a regular diet, beginning first with soft, easily digestible foods, then cooked vegetables, then meats, then raw vegetables (if applicable).  A good probiotic is highly recommended during any cleanse.

(As with any diet, please use personal discretion, awareness, and responsibility.  If you experience any discomforting symptoms, please stop the diet.)

BEET CLEANSE

The recipe below assists the liver in decongesting, it assists the gallbladder in cleansing, it assists the prostate in dumping, and it assists the spleen in purifying the blood.  In truth, it assists the entire body.  As a whole food, it is a fiber that will also help sweep through the colon to break up the hard, crusty, toxic buildup attaching to the colon walls.

Liver-Gallbladder-Colon Cleanse
1)  One cup finely chopped raw beets (organic preferred)
2)  2 tablespoons Virgin 1st press Olive Oil or Flax Oil (Raw)
3)  Juice of 1/2 lemon

Take 1 teaspoon every 1-2 hours during waking hours for 3 days.  Then take 2 Tablespoons 3 times per day before meals for 37 days.  This is a powerful liver and gallbladder flush.  It will stimulate digestion, lower blood fats (cholesterol and triglycerides) and help you regain energy.

MAKE YOUR OWN PROBIOTIC

As most people are by now aware, probiotic bacteria (acidophilus, lactobacillus, bifidobacteria, etc.) are necessary bacteria that assist the digestive system in maintaining balance and preventing overgrowth of harmful organisms (candida and giardia, for example).  Stress, worry, illness, or bad diet can create overly-acidic conditions in the body, and disrupt the natural ph balance.  When the body becomes overly acidic, the stage is set for overgrowth of harmful bacteria.  If you have ever been on antibiotics without also taking a probiotic, chances are that you need some form of probiotic in your system to replenish the friendly flora that are necessary for intestinal health.  If you live with a pet (especially if your pet sleeps in bed with you), chances are that you have parasites that are probably compromising your system to some greater or lesser degree.

We at Source Legacy are always looking for the most effective, easiest, and most affordable means of assisting those who come through our doors.  With the increase of viruses and illnesses sweeping the country this season, many people have been forced to take antibiotics and, as a consequence, there has been an alarming increase of intestinal problems that people have been reporting.  Not surprisingly, the occurrence of candida overgrowth with people has been through the roof.

The recipe below recently came to our attention again (after almost 20 years), and we were eager to share it with everyone.  Cabbage is naturally one of the finest foods you can put in your body.  It is great for the liver and the spleen; it's a wonderful source of fiber (even in the liquid form suggested by this recipe); it contains a variety of potent anti-cancer agents such as indoles, chlorophyll, and flavonoids that block the development of cancerous cells; it is rich in vitamin C; it contains vitamin U which is useful in the treatment of stomach ulcers; and naturally fermented and unpasteurized cabbage (or sauerkraut) is an excellent source of beneficial bacteria that is enormously helpful for improving the health of intestinal flora.

I immediately tried this recipe and -- people, let me tell you -- within a few hours of drinking this, it was like Sherman's march to the sea in my belly.  The friendly bacteria that this mixture creates stomped through like Trojan warriors, and I actually felt them kicking butt in my belly.  Without getting too graphic...well...let's just say that, eventually, the results of this battle are plainly evident.  I am happy to validate that it helps the liver dump old toxins and junk, and it sweeps like a broom through the colon and starts dislodging old toxic matter.  It's a bit of a pain to do this everyday, admittedly, but I have tried very few probiotics that work this well.  Perhaps you'll agree.  The final product does taste a little unusual -- like a slightly garlic-flavored carbonated drink -- but it's not offensive.  And boy-oh-boy is it worth the trouble.  

  • 3 cups coarsely chopped cabbage (green or purple).  If using a blender or food processor, do not chop for longer than 30 seconds.
  • 1 3/4 cups distilled or purified water (do not use tap water with chlorine; if you only have access to chlorinated water, boil it for 1/2 hour, then cool before using)
  • 1/8 teaspoon granulated garlic
  • 1/8 teaspoon granulated or minced onion (optional)


PART ONE:  Wash cabbage thoroughly with a vegetable cleaning solution or with Grapefruit seed extract (this is important, because you don't want nasty vegetable parasites in your mixture).  Place the chopped cabbage in a container with an air-tight lid.  Cover the cabbage with the water and garlic.  Cover.  Let sit at room temperature for three (3) days.  

PART TWO:  After three (3) days, drain off the liquid, dispose of the cabbage (*).  Drink all but 1/4 cup, which you will set aside.  Chop 3 more cups of cabbage, place in container with lid, and cover with 1 1/2 cups water, and the remaining 1/4 cup.  Cover.  Let sit at room temperature for 24 hours (1 day).  Drain off the liquid, dispose of cabbage (*).  Drink all but 1/4 cup, which you will set aside.  Repeat this 24-hour process as often as is necessary.  (NOTE:  If you let the mixture ferment longer than 24 hours [beyond the first three-day batch], DO NOT CONSUME -- you should toss it out and start the process over from the beginning.)

(*) I mix the cabbage in with my puppy's dog food (the cabbage is as good for him as it is for me -- both the fiber and the probiotics).

CHECKING FOR CANDIDA:

Candida seems to be a very misunderstood, hard-to-diagnose and hard-to-treat condition that keeps the intestinal tract of many, many millions of people in a virtual uproar.  You can spend hundreds of dollars hoping your doctor will be able to tell you with some authority what the problem is, or you can check very simply for yourself:  Fill a clear glass with plain old water.  Drop some saliva (not a loogie!) in the glass (that's right -- spit) and if it sinks in any manner, you're probably dealing with candida; if it floats, you probably have a healthy balance of intestinal flora.  It's a simple test recommended by several doctors, and it seems to be generally accurate.  Try it for yourself, and you be the judge.

ALL-NATURAL TOOTHPASTE

  • 10 drops Grapefruit Seed Extract
  • 10 drops Clove oil
  • 1 tsp. Xylitol*
  • 1 tsp. Slippery Elm
  • Mix with filtered water to make a paste.  Use in place of toothpaste.  


(*PLEASE NOTE that while Xylitol is a wonderful sweetener, it is included here not simply as a flavor enhancer, but as an integral healing part of this formula.  Xylitol helps support and strengthen the overall health of the tooth  Please note that Xylitol is VERY dangerous to animals; keep away..)

TRIPHALA EYEWASH

  • for floaters
  • for macular degeneration


Triphala is an Ayurvedic herb that has wonderful benefits for the overall health of the eyes.  Please procure a powder form for this eye wash.

Boil 1 teaspoon of Triphala in 1 cup of pure water for 3 minutes.  Cool completely.  Strain with a coffee filter (or extremely fine filter such as from REI) to remove any and all particles.  Use an eye cup to wash the eyes (a separate eye cup for each eye is ideal).  This can be done daily (or multiple times a week depending on the time allowed).  Repeat the Triphala eye wash 3-4 times a week in the morning for 1 month.  Repeat procedure after 1 month (1 month between treatments) if necessary.

OTHER HELPFUL TIPS FOR THE EYES:  (1) For irritated eyes put a single drop of pure, genuine castor oil (without any preservatives) in the eyes at bedtime.  (2) For burning eyes put 1 drop of ghee in the eyes at bedtime.  (3) Try eating Goji berries for the health and maintenance of the eyes; they are extraordinarily high in anti-oxidants.  Your local Chinese market should carry them.
